Nightmares On Wax ‘Bang Bien’ featuring Yasiin Bey
We created the music video for George Evelyn (better known as Nightmares On Wax) featuring Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), released as the lead single from the Echo45 Mixtape.
Rooted in the sound system culture of Leeds in the 1980s, George Evelyn’s journey began when, courtesy of his mum, he spent £5 on a battered old speaker box he dubbed “Echo45,” which changed the course of his life.

The music video loosely tells the story of George’s formative years and the sounds and places that inspired him. Featuring Leeds landmarks, his breakdancing crew Soul City Rockers, and hidden Nightmares On Wax “Easter eggs,”
Created using a collaged technique, the visuals are inspired by the cut-and-paste nature of mixtapes and the sound system experience, and layering of soul, roots, hip-hop, dub, and electronic music.
As the speaker and sounds bring George’s world alive literally and metaphorically – the music video enters an abstract realm of colour and imagination, kaleidoscopically crafted from fragments and clips of his early and seminal music videos.
